Happy Birthday Micah!!!

Yes, it's true. Micah turn 5 yesterday. I didn't think that it would affect me but I sure got nostalgic yesterday. I didn't cry but I had a strange reaction. I can't really describe how I felt. It was like I coudn't believe that my baby Micah turned 5! He's not in the Sunbeams anymore and he is going to start kindergarten this fall! Where have the last five years gone??? Where is my baby? Now, I'm wondering how I will react when he starts kindergarten? I didn't think that it would affect me. But now I'm not so sure. He his definitely a big boy now.

We surprised him with a tool bench. He wanted one from Christmas but we had already bought all of his presents when he told Santa that is what he wanted. So, we got it for his birthday. Funny story....at his preschool they send home a diary of what the kids have done during the month. In December when we got his diary, it said that he wanted a "tube inch" for Christmas. His teacher obviously couldn't understand him. It took me a minute to figure out he must have said "tool bench." Anyway, we put the tool bench together and then snuck it into his bedroom while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up and see he finally had his tool bench. ( I have video of him playing with his tool bench but I can't get it to upload. I'll keep trying.)

Later that day we took Micah and two of his friends to the Fun Park. (The Fun Park is like Chuck E. Cheese but not as nice. It's all we have in Cache Valley.) Thomas is his friend from school and stands about a head taller than Micah. Tayton is his friend from church. Tayton's mom is who watches Micah and Ellie while I go volunteer at LDS Family Services. They had so much fun!! After the Fun Park we came back to the house for pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream. Then the boys played superheroes until their parents came to pick them up.

That night when I was putting Micah to bed, he didn't want me to leave. (Here I am getting sappy again!) He asked me to sing to him. So I laid next to him in his bed and sang him a couple of songs. He told me he loved my beautiful voice. I just about cried! We then talked about the day and how much fun it was. I then told him some stories about him when he was still in my belly and how after he was born he liked to sleep on my chest. It was such a special moment.

Unscrewing the screws with his drill.
Here's the backhoe we made. One of twelve projects that can be built with the foam pieces of wood.

Happy Birthday Micah!!!

Micah still enjoying himself even though he is losing. What a sport!

Tis' the season-Our trip to Missouri

This year we went to Missouri for Christmas. Robert took his two week vacation so we were able to spend a good 10 days in Missouri. We spent Christmas Eve with my grandparents, parents, and my brother and his family. Christmas day was a quieter day spent with just my parents opening presents. Micah and Ellie had fun playing with there cousins. They got spoiled rotten with all the Christmas presents. Since we were going to Missouri, we opened presents with our kids and Roberts parents before we left. All and all Micah and Ellie got to open Christmas presents on 4 different days. While in Missouri my parents were kind enough to take care of our kids and let Robert and I go out on a couple of dates. (Thanks Mom and Dad!!) It was so nice. Free babysitting makes dating affordable! I forgot what it was like to spend time with my husband, just the two of us. He's kind of fun to hang out with. Here are some pictures from our trip.

We had a lady from my parents church come and take a family picture for us. It's not the best but we are all together. Such a cute family!!
Ths kids all played so well together. Here they are playing Hullaballoo and having a great time.
Christmas Eve dinner was sub sandwiches. We were having our big dinner on Christmas day. Here is Brent and Amanda seeking a taste before dinner.
Baby Brigham is patiently waiting for his sandwich.
Here are all the kids in front of the Christmas tree, waiting to open presents on Christmas Eve. I'm surprised we got them to sit still for this picture. They were all so excited.
Sadie and Hannah wanted to spend the night with Micah and Ellie the day before Christmas Eve. Micah wanted to sleep with Sadie and Hannah. Ellie and Abby slept in the front bedroom together.
The next morning (Christmas Eve) after Abby and Ellie woke up, this is what we found. All of them in bed together watching cartoons.
After breakfast I took all the kids outside to go sledding on the hill behind my parents house.
We all had fun. I even went down with them a couple of times.
My brother Brent has a kettle corn business. He sells it at fairs and such. Here he is popping some corn for all of us in my grandma's basement. It was to windy to pop it outside.

So I've been lazy!

So it's been almost a month since I have done anything with our blog. The holidays were busy with Christmas party after Christmas party. Then we went to Missouri for ten days to spend Christmas with my family. Then we drove home (through the night) through the windy, snowy Wyoming roads and got home just in time to celebrate the new year. (I feel asleep by 8:30pm. Happy New Year to me!) Now it's back to the old grind (ok, Robert is the only one who can really say that). My days have been filled with following Ellie around the house and asking her if she has to go pee-pee. (Erin you aren' t the only one that blogs about bodily fluids). Needless to say, I feel like I've been busy but I haven't gone anywhere because I am trying to potty train Ellie. I will try to get some Christmas picures on soon. Keep checking back. In the mean time, wish me luck with Ellie!!!
